Bubbles Wins Judge's Award At Durham

Mar 15, 2025

Just two weeks after capturing the Rookie All-Star Award at the Newmarket District Event, FRC Team Bubbles 10015 has done it again—this time earning the prestigious Judge’s Award at the Durham College District Event. In their debut season, Bubbles is quickly becoming a standout force in Ontario’s FIRST Robotics community.

The Judge’s Award is presented to teams that demonstrate exceptional effort, unique performance, or strong values that may not fall under traditional award categories. For Team Bubbles, judges were impressed by their student-led engineering process, meaningful community outreach, and rapid advancement in both robot capability and team cohesion.

“Most rookies focus on just getting their robot to move. Bubbles has already gone further—showcasing what it means to lead, collaborate, and innovate,” noted one of the event judges.

Based in York Region and powered by SolversMind Robotics, Team Bubbles has now earned enough district points to qualify for the Ontario Provincial Championships (DCMP). Their back-to-back award wins have quickly made them one of the most talked-about rookie teams in the province.

“This award reflects the spirit and resilience of our students,” said head coach Mr. Dahai Zhang (aka Mr. Pi). “They’ve built not just a robot, but a foundation for leadership and impact.”

With their sights now set on DCMP this April, Team Bubbles 10015 is doing more than competing—they’re inspiring a new generation of youth leaders in STEM.
