MACH Robot - An AI-Vision Assisted Mobile Local Heating/Cooling Robot

Applying First Principles Thinking, our team designed a mobile spot heating and cooling robot featuring a mini heat pump with a COP of 3.0. The robot tracks and follows occupants within a room, delivering localized conditioning directly to them, significantly reducing energy waste compared to traditional whole-room systems. Energy simulations confirmed substantial energy savings and a notable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. This innovative project was our first Kickstarter project and also highlighted in the HRAI newsletter.

Introducing Rose-Knight!

We pushed the EV3 platform to its limits, creating our most advanced integrated robot with multiple multitasking mechanisms on a single design. It can operate continuously for 1:30 minutes, completing the majority of missions with precision. Through this project, the team mastered system integration design, combining passive and motorized attachments with PID control and an advanced line-squaring algorithm for optimal performance.

Tiny Farm Kit - Future Vertical Farming for Every Household

Our first all-girl team is showcasing the power of girl power. Sponsored by Goodleaf, these talented innovators used their creativity and skills to develop a Tiny Farm Kit, enabling micro-plant cultivation at home. Based on vertical farming technology, the kit significantly reduces energy and water usage. The team even created a comprehensive user manual - be sure to check it out!

Duel-Fuel Switching Game - An Initiative to Educate on Optimal Energy Choices

Electricity in Canada is a clean energy source, and the government is actively investing in heat pump technology for buildings to conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Dual-fuel systems in residential homes present an excellent opportunity to support this initiative. But how can we raise awareness among homeowners and industries? Our young solvers tackled this challenge by developing an engaging Scratch game to help regulators promote and educate the public about this innovative technology.
