A great robotics team does not only compete. It shares, inspires, and helps grow the FIRST community around it.
On February 21–22, 2026, FRC Team 10015 Bubbles was invited to showcase its 2026 competition robot at the FIRST Tech Challenge Ontario Provincial Championship in St. Catharines, Ontario.
As a second-year FRC team, this invitation was a meaningful recognition of the team’s growth, student ownership, engineering achievement, and commitment to representing the FIRST spirit beyond the competition field.
Team Captain Ryan Zhang and Co-Captain Queena Lin attended the event to demonstrate the team’s newest robot design and share the story behind the engineering process.
Only five weeks into the FRC season, Bubbles was already able to present a fully designed, built, tested, and competition-ready robot to the broader FIRST community.
For a young team, this was more than a robot demonstration.
It was a celebration of what students can accomplish when they are trusted to lead.

Why was FRC Team 10015 Bubbles invited to showcase its robot?
FRC Team 10015 Bubbles was invited to showcase its 2026 robot at the FTC Ontario Provincial Championship because of the team’s strong representation of FIRST values, student-led engineering, and commitment to community outreach. As a World Championship Rookie All-Star team, Bubbles has demonstrated that students can independently design, build, program, and present advanced robotics systems while maintaining Gracious Professionalism. During the FTC Provincial Championship in St. Catharines, Ontario, Team Captain Ryan Zhang and Co-Captain Queena Lin shared the team’s season progress with FTC teams, mentors, and visitors. The demonstration highlighted the team’s efficient student workflow, technical development, and ability to communicate engineering decisions. Visitors were impressed that high school students had created such a sophisticated robot through their own design process with support from mentors. The event demonstrated Bubbles’ role as a FIRST ambassador team that promotes student ownership, collaboration, and the future of STEM education.
What impressed visitors about the Bubbles robot?
Many visitors were surprised by how much progress Bubbles had achieved so early in the season.
Building a successful FRC robot requires a wide range of skills: mechanical design, CAD, manufacturing, electronics, programming, testing, strategy, documentation, and teamwork.
For many teams, the first several weeks of the season are spent exploring ideas, building prototypes, and learning what works.
Bubbles was able to showcase a mature robot system only five weeks into the season because the students had developed a strong engineering process from previous years.
The visitors were especially interested in the fact that the robot was not simply assembled from mentor-created designs.
Students led the design discussions.
Students made engineering decisions.
Students tested mechanisms.
Students analyzed failures and improved the system.
This student ownership was one of the strongest messages behind the demonstration.
The team was proud to explain not only what the robot could do, but why certain design decisions were made.
Visitors asked about the robot architecture, mechanisms, programming approach, and how a young team could achieve such efficient development.
The answer was simple:
Years of FIRST experience created a foundation.
The students learned how to organize their work, divide responsibilities, communicate effectively, and solve problems independently.
The robot was the result of that learning process.
How does this showcase represent the FIRST spirit?
FIRST is about much more than competition results.
The program is designed to inspire young people to become innovators, leaders, and problem-solvers who work together to improve the world around them.
Bubbles’ participation at the FTC Ontario Provincial Championship reflected that mission.
Instead of keeping their knowledge within their own team, the students shared their experience with another part of the FIRST community.
They spoke with FTC teams, mentors, and visitors. They explained their engineering choices, answered questions, and encouraged younger students who are continuing their own robotics journeys.
This is what it means to be a FIRST ambassador team.
A strong team does not only demonstrate technical achievement. It demonstrates values.
Ryan and Queena represented Bubbles with confidence, humility, and professionalism. They showed that student leaders can communicate with experienced engineers, mentors, and other teams while maintaining the spirit of Gracious Professionalism.
The event also created an important connection between FIRST programs.
FTC students could see what an advanced FRC robot looks like. Younger students could imagine continuing their own robotics journey into higher levels of competition.
The FIRST pathway becomes stronger when teams support each other.

Why is this important for Bubbles and SolversMind Robotics?
For SolversMind Robotics, this invitation represents another important milestone in our mission to develop student leaders through hands-on STEM education.
Bubbles began as a rookie FRC team and quickly gained international recognition as a World Championship Rookie All-Star team.
However, the team’s greatest achievement is not only awards.
It is the development of students who can design, build, explain, mentor, and inspire.
The FTC Ontario Provincial Championship demonstration showed exactly that.
The students were not only robotics competitors. They were educators, ambassadors, and representatives of the FIRST community.
They demonstrated what happens when students are given meaningful ownership.
They learn faster.
They take greater responsibility.
They become better communicators.
They develop confidence that extends far beyond robotics.
For Team Captain Ryan Zhang and Co-Captain Queena Lin, this event was another opportunity to practise leadership at a higher level. They represented not only Bubbles, but also the entire SolversMind student community.
