Robotics competitions are where students test their robots. Events like the FIRST Canada Charity Golf Tournament are where they show the wider community what those experiences are helping them become.

In July 2026, two SolversMind teams represented the FIRST community at the 10th Annual FIRST Canada Charity Golf Tournament at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ontario.

The new FLL Team 52777 Solvers of X & Y, formerly known as Chrono Solvers, and FRC Team 10015 Bubbles were invited to demonstrate their robots and meet the sponsors, business leaders, and community partners who support FIRST programs across Canada.

This was the third time SolversMind teams had represented FIRST Robotics Canada at this annual event.

How did SolversMind represent FIRST Canada at the charity golf tournament?

SolversMind Robotics was honoured to send two student teams to represent the FIRST community at the 10th Annual FIRST Canada Charity Golf Tournament at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham. FLL Team 52777 Solvers of X & Y and FRC Team 10015 Bubbles demonstrated two different stages of the FIRST robotics pathway, from LEGO-based robot design and coding to the engineering of a full-size competition robot. Students explained their designs, answered questions, and shared how they learned through hands-on building, testing, programming, teamwork, and competition. They also demonstrated Gracious Professionalism by speaking confidently and respectfully with sponsors and guests throughout the event. Their participation showed that FIRST develops much more than technical knowledge. It helps young people become communicators, problem-solvers, leaders, and future professionals who are ready to take what they learn in robotics into university, industry, and their future careers.

FIRST Robotics Canada described the anniversary event as a day of golf, networking, student robotics demonstrations, and support for the next generation of STEM leaders.

What did the two teams demonstrate to FIRST sponsors?

The two SolversMind teams showed guests what student learning can look like at different stages of the FIRST pathway.

The new Solvers of X & Y team represented FIRST LEGO League Challenge. Their robot showed how younger students can use mechanical design, coding, data, creativity, and teamwork to solve complex missions.

The students were not simply operating a finished robot.

They explained why attachments were designed in certain ways, how their programs controlled movement, how they tested reliability, and how failed ideas helped them improve.

FRC Team 10015 Bubbles demonstrated the next level of the student journey.

Their full-size FRC robot showed how students progress into more advanced mechanical engineering, computer-aided design, manufacturing, electrical systems, sensors, programming, strategy, and project management.

Together, the two teams gave sponsors a clear picture of how FIRST grows with a student.

A younger student may begin by building a LEGO robot and learning basic programming. With time and experience, that same student can move into FTC and FRC, where the robots become larger, the systems become more complex, and students take on deeper leadership roles.

The demonstrations attracted strong attention from sponsors and guests because the students could explain their work in their own words.

They were not presenting something built for them by adults. They were sharing the outcome of their own research, design, coding, testing, teamwork, and persistence.

This is one of the most powerful parts of the FIRST learning model.

Students do not only study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. They use those subjects to create something real.

Why are Solvers of X & Y and Bubbles considered FIRST ambassador teams?

A FIRST ambassador team does more than compete.

It represents the values, educational impact, and spirit of the FIRST community wherever it goes.

At Angus Glen Golf Club, the students represented FIRST Robotics Canada in front of many of the sponsors and partners who help make robotics programs possible.

That responsibility required them to communicate clearly, welcome questions, share their experiences honestly, and help guests understand why FIRST matters.

The students demonstrated Gracious Professionalism, one of the central ideas within FIRST.

They showed technical confidence without acting as though they knew everything. They spoke proudly about their achievements while recognizing their mentors, teammates, sponsors, volunteers, and the wider FIRST community.

They also listened.

Meeting sponsors was not only an opportunity to explain the robots. It gave students a chance to hear from professionals working in technology, engineering, education, business, and community leadership.

These conversations helped students connect what they were learning in robotics with the careers and industries they may enter in the future.

The event also showed sponsors the human side of their support.

They could see students who had developed technical knowledge, confidence, communication skills, teamwork, leadership, and a strong sense of responsibility.

FIRST Robotics Canada has described investment in youth STEM programs as an investment in future innovation, productivity, and career readiness. Its anniversary golf tournament brought corporate partners, community leaders, student demonstrations, and fundraising together around that shared purpose.

For SolversMind, being selected to represent FIRST Canada for a third time is a meaningful recognition of the way our students perform both on and away from the competition field.

How does this event prepare students for future careers?

Robotics gives students many technical skills, but technical ability alone is not enough for most careers.

Engineers need to explain their designs.

Programmers need to work with teams.

Researchers need to present evidence.

Entrepreneurs need to speak with supporters and partners.

Leaders need to listen, make decisions, and represent their organizations professionally.

The FIRST Canada Charity Golf Tournament gave students a chance to practise all of these skills in a real public setting.

They needed to adjust their explanations depending on the person standing in front of them. Some guests had engineering backgrounds and wanted technical details. Others were seeing a student-built robot for the first time and needed a simple introduction.

The students learned how to read the situation, answer questions, demonstrate the robot safely, and keep people engaged.

These are professional skills.

They are also the natural outcome of years of student-led robotics training.

At SolversMind, we use robotics as a hands-on learning platform, but the goal is larger than building a successful machine.

Students learn to solve problems when instructions are incomplete. They learn to continue after something fails. They learn to divide work, meet deadlines, speak in public, document their decisions, and support their teammates.

When students stand in front of FIRST sponsors and confidently explain a robot they helped design, build, and program, we can see how far they have come.

They are no longer only learning about possible future careers.

They are already beginning to act like young professionals.

Why was this event important to SolversMind Robotics?

SolversMind Robotics was honoured to have two teams selected to represent the FIRST community at this milestone event.

It was especially meaningful to have the new generation of Solvers of X & Y attend alongside FRC Team 10015 Bubbles.

The two teams represent different parts of the same student journey.

Solvers of X & Y is beginning a new chapter with students who have grown from Chrono Solvers into a stronger and more independent FLL team.

Bubbles represents what can happen when students continue progressing through the FIRST pathway and take on larger technical, leadership, and community responsibilities.

Standing together, the teams showed the continuity of SolversMind’s youth development program.

One generation learns from the one before it. Younger students gain inspiration and technical knowledge from older teams. Experienced students become mentors and ambassadors. The cycle continues.

This was the third time SolversMind teams had represented FIRST Robotics Canada at the annual charity golf tournament.

Each visit has given our students a valuable opportunity to meet the people who believe in FIRST and help make these programs possible.

It has also given us the chance to say thank you.

Sponsors may see funding, equipment, events, and programs from one side. Our students can show them the result.

The result is a young person who can build, code, communicate, lead, collaborate, and imagine a future in STEM.

They arrived as robotics teams, but they represented something much bigger: the next generation of Canadian innovators, engineers, leaders, and problem-solvers.
