A Legacy Reignited: SolversMind’s Next Generation Wins Big at Ontario FLL Championship

After five years of tireless effort, mentorship, and innovation, the SolversMind legacy continues to thrive. Our current FLL Challenge team—now powered by a new generation of passionate young minds—has proudly claimed the 1st Place Champion’s Award at the 2025 Ontario Provincial Championship, securing a coveted invitation to the FIRST World Festival in Houston, Texas.
This win is more than just a title—it’s a full-circle moment. The original SolversMind FLL team, founded in 2019, carved a path of excellence through national competitions, peer mentorship, and relentless curiosity. Their journey eventually led to the creation of FRC Team Bubbles 10015, now run by those very alumni. Today, that same energy and spirit of student-led growth lives on through their younger teammates.
“This win is more than a trophy—it’s a passing of the torch,” said head coach Mr. Dahai Zhang, who has guided both generations. “Our alumni now run an FRC team, and their younger peers just earned a place on the world stage. This is exactly what FIRST is all about.”
The Champion’s Award—the highest honor in FLL—celebrates teams that exemplify FIRST’s core values: innovation, teamwork, and impact. Judges praised the SolversMind team not only for their exceptional robot performance and thoroughly researched Innovation Project, but for their compelling story of continuity and mentorship.
“It’s not just that they built a great robot,” one judge shared. “It’s that they were built by a great legacy.”
As April’s World Festival draws near, this next-gen FLL team stands ready to represent Ontario—and the future of youth robotics—on the global stage.
Their Innovation Project, a first-principles solution to plastic pollution using seaweed-based biodegradable plastic, was invited to the center stage during the awards ceremony and showcased to all FLL teams.
