OCTOMASTER / FRC 10015 / 2025
OctoMaster. Bioinspired from the first iteration.
Bubbles’ rookie-season robot introduced a first-of-its-kind FRC approach: a servo-actuated, 3D-printed bioinspired arm for catching and placing coral and handling algae, then evolved through three competition-driven versions.
SYSTEM EVOLUTION
Three versions. One learning loop.
Follow OctoMaster from its first research-inspired arm through three competition-tested iterations. Its reveal was featured on FUN Robotics Network’s 2025 Premiere Night as the only Canadian robot and the only rookie robot in the showcase.
OCTOMASTER / FRC 10015 / 2025
Bioinspired. 3D printed. Competition tested.
OctoMaster paired a 3D-printed logarithmic-spiral-inspired arm with servo actuation to conform around game pieces, catch and place coral, and grab and transport algae—a first-of-its-kind FRC application refined across three versions.
01 / V1 / ORIGINAL CONCEPT
Version 1. From research to a field-ready arm.
The first OctoMaster translated the SpiRobs logarithmic-spiral principle into a 3D-printed, servo-actuated FRC manipulator. Its goal was adaptive contact: catch and place coral while wrapping around algae without a conventional rigid claw.

Version 2. Competition evidence reshaped the mechanism.
After early matches exposed loading, alignment and durability limits, the second version refined geometry, servo control and game-piece retention around what drivers and pit crews observed on the field.
